Research topic: "Dynamics of Matrix Oil Swelling during Carbon Dioxide Flow in Fractured System"
The purpose of this research is to visualize and understand CO2 flow in heterogeneous (fractured) porous medium and interaction processes at pore scale. In the photo shown below CO2 was injected at immiscible conditions into a model which has a single fracture in the middle. The system is saturated with light crude oil and water.
Micromodel of a fractured system. CO2 is injected at immiscible condition. It flows predominantly in the fracture swelling the matrix oil at the same time.
